Croft End Show

Bank Holiday Monday 31st August – will see all Croft End Horses & Ponies groomed and turned out to perfection. Everyone is invited to come and watch the fun as the horses are put through their paces in the ridden classes, are tested on their jumping ability and judged in hand for the Novelty Classes.

Staff Achievements

Congratulations to Hayley who has passed her British Horse Society P.T.T. She was examined teaching under a variety of different situations, group lesson jumping, lead rein private lesson and assessed on her knowledge & understanding of teaching and learning principles.

Terri has now fully achieved her NVQ 2 in Horse Care after being assessed over a period of time carrying out horse care tasks and building a Portfolio of Evidence to demonstrate her knowledge and understanding of the syllabus.

Chris & Jenny had a fabulous day out at Rochdale One Day Event. Jenny was the Dressage Champion and Chris finished 7th overall – both had completed a dressage test, show jumping round and a cross country course. Jenny rode her own horse Merlin and Chris rode Louie, owned by Croft End.
Well done to all of you!

Croft End Shop

Please feel free to have a look around our shop located in the office. You can buy all your essential riding kit from here e.g. hat, boots, gloves, chaps & whips etc. All items are reasonably priced – please ask if you require a certain style, colour or size. We are here to help.

We recommend for children’s riding that they wear short leather jodhpur boots and chaps. The boots have a smooth sole with a small heel. The small heel prevents the foot from sliding all the way through the stirrup whilst riding and the smooth sole will help the boot slide out and reduce the risk of getting caught in the stirrup, in the event of a fall.
Half chaps help the rider to keep their legs in the correct position whilst protecting the legs from being rubbed by the stirrup leathers.

New Horses
Red – a 16.1hh chestnut gelding owned by Claire Scholes. An ex race horse that has been out of work due to injury but is returning very nicely to ridden work.

Archie – a 15hh coloured gelding on Full Livery he likes to go to his Pony Club rallies and even won best turned out prize!

Oliver – a 13hh liver chestnut gelding owned by Diane and Katie Rothwell – a super little guy who enjoys lots of fuss and attention.

Ellie – a 17hh black mare owned by Lauren Rothwell, has competed successfully in the equestrian discipline of show jumping.

Grey Archie – a 15.2hh grey gelding. Has hunted and loves jumping five bar gates with his previous owner! A working livery owned by Sophie Luker.

Lawrence – is now owned by Hannah Gascoigne and is kept on working livery, he is progressing nicely with his education and training.

R.I.P
Over the last few months we have a number of sad losses. The horses at Croft End mean the world to us and we are always devastated when we have to say goodbye to one of our pals.
Charlie, Tina, McCoy and Polly – we miss you all x

HONEY BEES for the third consecutive year we have ‘been’ home to a colony of beautiful honey bees. They are a protected species and as such we would appreciate if they were left undisturbed. Please don’t be alarmed by their presence as they haven’t stung anyone – yet! We have a large car park at the other end of the Yard – please drive carefully across the yard.

SPEED LIMIT please observe and stick to the speed limit whilst driving down the drive and across the yard. Also show consideration for the other road users (often horse riders) and residents of Knott Lanes by driving slowly and carefully on your way to and from Croft End. Thank you for your co-operation.

BIRTHDAY GIFTS Croft End vouchers are available from the Office to be redeemed against the cost of riding lessons or can be spent in the Shop. These make ideal gifts for all ages – see staff for more details.

Childrens Parties

Can be booked (school holiday time only) and we cater for a maximum of 8 children riding for half hour followed by party food in the Café. Please ask in Office for price and availability.

HORSE SIMULATOR – TROY
HALF PRICE LESSONS!

To help our customers beat the credit crunch and still improve their riding, we are running a ½ price voucher scheme. All instructors have been given a set of Vouchers for every lesson they teach and over the next few weeks they will award the half price voucher to the rider they think would most benefit from a lesson on Troy.

The horse simulator can help with all rider positional faults and the one to one lesson gives the rider chance to focus on a particular aspect of their riding.

If you receive a voucher you are under no obligation to use it, but with the lessons discounted by 50% for adults and children – what a bargain!

Price with Voucher Adults £10 (30 mins)
Children £5 (20 mins)

BUYING A HORSE

We are often asked by our customers the costs and work involved with buying and keeping a horse. If you would like to find out more about what’s involved please talk to Pat and Carole who will be happy to discuss the options with you. They are also able to help you in your search for your Dream Horse.

WEBSITE RE LAUNCH
www.croft-end.co.uk is currently undergoing a revamp. We are open to suggestions for any ideas that you’d like to see on the site!

GOT A COMMENT?
We always welcome any feedback from our customers. Croft End has built its reputation on high standards of horse care and customer care. We realize the importance of our customers’ views and encourage you to talk to us about any aspect of our business.

Pat and Carole are always willing to listen to your views, comments and concerns. Of course you can also tell us when we have done something well!

LESSON PRICES
This year there has been a slight increase in the price of lessons. This has been necessary to cover our increased running costs as our bales of hay, haylage and shavings have all increased considerably over Winter.

LESSON CANCELLATION
As from 1st July any lesson that is missed or cancelled without 24hrs notice will be subject to a charge of £5. This is necessary as we are unable to fill a space if you don’t turn up for your lesson or cancel without giving 24hrs notice.

PLEASE NOTE – WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR ANY LESSON CANCELLED IF MORE THAN 24 HOURS NOTICE IS GIVEN
