Horse Profile: Solomon

My name is Sol. I am the biggest horse at Croft End at 17 hh. I am a flee bitten grey, I have lived at croft end for 7 years or so now and I am a big handsome chap. I lived in Ireland for a while where I hunted in my youth.

I work on the riding School and I am a school master for people who can ride. I don’t teach beginners or like being led oh no! I love to work in the outdoor arena where I can show off my paces and I am a true gentleman with super manners.

I used to live in the main block of stables and people would walk past and stroke me and I hated it, I don’t do fuss. I had to have a note put on my door to say that I was sometimes grumpy. I have recently been moved to the full livery block (my rightful place) a small yard of 12 large boxes. It’s lovely and quiet and Sarah and Terri look after my every need so I’m much happier here.

In the summer I go in the field with my good friend Dandy. I can’t wait I dance down the road to the field with my head held high and feel as tall as a giraffe. When I get to the field I wait for my treat before my head collar is taken off, then off I go cantering around with Dandy. It’s great to be free, roll on spring time.

I love to jump but I’m in my late teens now so I’ve given it up as I don’t want to knock or pull my tendons so I leave that to the younger horses. Until the show day that is when I come thundering down the outdoor and show everybody I can still jump everything perfectly and take away the trophy yet again
.

Pat and Carole say they could never find such a big bold handsome horse like me again but then again they don’t have to because they have got me the one and only.
