Hi there my name is Tina Pony, or T.P as I am sometimes called. I lived at Croft End for seven years, a lady of advancing years – without divulging my exact age – they guess me at being a bright thirty something! Everyone say’s I’m a sweetheart – all 12.3hh of me, with a coat as white as snow and the largest black eyes you ever did see and pretty as a picture. I am happy as the day is long, not for me nasty faces and grumpy looks. I just LOVE children, in fact I just LOVE EVERYBODY I meet – it’s just the way I am! Teaching children to ride is a fabulous job, looking after them; I don’t run off or pull and I’m not lazy. As I became an older girl I became very popular on the lead rein lessons, but I remember the days when I played gymkhana games, giving the other ponies a run for their money. At Croft End Annual Show I’d always be the first Pony to be booked, probably because I was guaranteed not to tip off my little charges. My stable near to the entrance of the indoor arena allowed me to keep an eye on all the comings and goings – never a dull moment. My favourite friends for playing in the field; Spring, Cola, Jewels & Belle – a great gang for spending time just hanging out, as you know! I am particularly partial to apples and my special friend Jane always bought me the most expensive, juiciest apples from Sainsbury’s – my very own treat! She really did like to make a special fuss of me. Over the years I have suffered with bouts of laminitis in my feet, but thanks to careful management of my diet and the skill of my Farrier Gavin (he kitted me out with extra special shoes to keep me comfortable), I’ve managed very well to stay sound and in work. Lately though I’d not been feeling myself – my feet were getting sorer and my tummy was rumbling. The vet visits were becoming more frequent and I could tell Jane was worried about me. On Friday 9th January the kindest decision was made for me and I was put gently to sleep. I know that everyone at Croft End will be missing me but I’m very grateful for them making my life such a happy one and I so enjoyed meeting all the lovely customers at Croft End. Over the years I have taught so many children to ride, but I remember something about every single one. Right now I’m relaxing with my old friend Misty, another grey pony from Croft End. Misty had a stable blocked named after her when she passed away and rumour has it that I might be bestowed the same honour! Secretly I think the new Courtyard would be a befitting memorial – so put in a good word for me! Please don’t be sad – I’m not! My feet don’t hurt anymore, my tummy doesn’t rumble and I can eat as much grass as I like! Love to you all Tina Pony x
